Hot Pressing

TA&T has 30, 250, and 600-ton vacuum hot presses that are available for customer use in sizes from 2” to 23” in diameter.

TA&T can adjust heating and pressure profiles to meet customer requirements as well as both circular and rectangular sizes using graphite inserts in larger graphite dies. If desired, TA&T can provide post processing steps including part density, hot isostatic pressing, grinding and polishing and optical property measurements in the case of transparent materials. The size and temperature capability of the presses are in the table below.

Pressureless Sintering

TA&T has air sintering furnaces capable of 1650°C and vacuum furnaces capable of temperatures as high as 1900°C for sizes up to 6 inches in diameter for air and 20 inches in the largest sintering furnace with a maximum temperature capability of 1600°C. Hot Isostatic Pressing

TA&T offers hot isostatic pressing (HIP) services. Equipped to handle extreme pressures, temperatures, and heating profiles, our American Isostatic Press built HIP is suited for a wide variety of materials and applications.

Cold Isostatic Pressing

TA&T offers Cold Isostatic Pressing (CIP) services. Hydraulically driven, the pressure vessel can easily handle pressures up to 30,000 PSI (30 KSI). Ideal for producing uniform densities in complex parts.

Materials Characterization

Simultaneous weight loss and endothermic/exothermic calorimetry capability up to 1600°C in air and inert atmospheres is available as toll service. Quotations can be provided on request to Jeff Kutsch.

Single and multilayer CVD coatings of C, Zr, Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta, Ti, Re, SiC, NbC, ZrC, HfC, Mo2C, TaC, B4C and others are available on request. Magnetron Sputtered Coatings including multilayers of virtually any ceramic, metallic and polymeric material are also available on request.

Mixing Services

TA&T offers toll mixing services from small, laboratory scale amounts to multiple kilograms in a single run. Utilizing Glen Mills Turbula 3-axis shaker-mixers and Resodyn LabRAM Acoustic Mixers, TA&T will mix powders, liquids, and epoxies. By sending mixtures in a sealed container to our facilities, contamination free mixing is achieved.

3D Printing (Additive Manufacturing)

TA&T uses stereolithography printing to provide component prototyping and manufacturing services. Current materials available include alumina, silica, zirconia and 316 stainless steel, all using proprietary resin compositions. Spray Drying

TA&T is now offering custom toll spray drying in small and large quantities along with slurry preparation. With two spray dryers available, small and large orders can be handled with ease.
